You are looking at the right article, as here we cover all of the action steps available in HeyReach, with a detailed overview of the rules for each action when used in a sequence.
Before we dwell into the actions, note well that when building a sequence you will need to build a sequence for both of the sides of the sequences.
Rights side aka Success side.
Left Side.
In the current version of the tool, this is the list of available actions for building a campaign sequence:
Send Connection Request (+personalized messages)
If Connection
Send Message
InMaiL
View Profile
Follow
Like Post
Regarding the further options, you can also add Delay Time and End to the desired branching.
Delay time for most of the cases is required, as there is a rule of having a minimum of 3 hours delay between two actions. The only exception here is the 'If Connection' action which also allows you the 'No Delay' option for the initial first step of the campaign for both of the branches.
Send Connection Request
Rule: You cannot send a Connection request to leads that are your 1st degree connections. It will result as failed leads.
Your go-to action to use when knowing for sure that the connection degree of the leads is not your 1st-degree connection (people already connected with the LinkedIn sender). This action includes the option to write a personalized message by using custom variables for the initial message and adding a fallback message (backup message if the customer variables are not found) or our ChatGPT AI message option that can help you create personalized messages with or without emojis.
The limitation of sending personalized notes depends on whether your LinkedIn sender has a Free or Premium subscription.
The personalized note with the connection request is as concerned as one action. If you execute 5 personalized connection requests, you cannot change the content of the message sent as this action is already delivered to the lead. Also, you can use the A/B testing option to add a few versions of the message content and measure the reply rate of which message was most successful.
Also, there is the option to avoid adding the personalized note and instead send a blank connection request (no message will be delivered to the lead).
In the current version, you cannot preview the message content when using custom variables, but you can see which version HeyReach sent by entering the original LinkedIn account and clicking on My Network > Grow > Manage > Sent > People section.
If Connection
This is the latest update from the action features perspective. Got a lead list that’s a mix of 1st-degree connections and new prospects? You can now split your sequence workflow based on whether your leads are already connected to the LinkedIn sender.
The right side of the sequence (success branch):
If a lead is already in your network, you can jump straight into messaging and engagement,
simple!
The left side of the branch:
If they’re not connected yet, the sequence can be built with actions to trigger the attention of the lead and then send a connection request.
Check this video for more guidance on how to use this action feature.
Send Message (Follow-Up Message)
Rule: You cannot send start the sequence to leads that are your 2nd & 3rd degree connection by sending them a message. It will result as failed leads.
For cases when creating campaigns for which the targeted ICP are leads that are already connected with the LinkedIn sender, you can go ahead and shoot them a direct message, meaning you can start the sequence with the message action step.
In the initial message customer variables from the previous variables from HeyReach can be used, as well as custom variables that were previously properly imported in HeyReach via the CSV import method will appear here, giving you the option to personalize the outreach at maximum.
Also, you can use the A/B testing option to add a few versions of the message content and measure the reply rate of which message was most successful.
InMail (Open & Closed Profiles)
Rule: In order to start an InMail campaign, the LinkedIn senders you plan to connect to this campaign must have a valid Sales Navigator or Recruiter account that is successfully connected to HeyReach.
💡 The Premium accounts in reality can send InMails, but in the current HeyReach version, there is a workaround solution on how to send InMails when having a Premium account.
With the InMail feature you can send InMails both to open and closed profiles, please check the article on where to check the InMail credits balance before launching a campaign. Leads with closed profiles will fail on the InMail step if the LinkedIn sender is out of Inmail credits.
Just like for the regular message, the InMail content can be created by including customer variables for the initial message (HeyReach pre-given variables or custom variables that were previously the CSV import method) and including a fallback (backup message). The difference here is that the InMail asks you for a subject line. Also, the subject line can contain custom variables.
Besides that, you can also include InMail message variations by including different types of messages, the A/B testing option allows you to measure the reply rate of which message was most successful.
View Profile
The View profile action along with the Follow and Like Post actions are usually actions that are used before sending a connection request, so it triggers the attention of the lead, by creating familiarity, which can increase the chance of accepting the Connection request later on.
You can simply add it as a first or second step in the sequence, once the action is executed, the lead will basically get a notification that their LinkedIn profile was viewed by them.
Follow
Rule: You cannot add the Follow action step in the sequence after using the Send Connection Request action. By default when sending a connection request, the sender becomes a follower instantly while the connection request will remain pending until the leads accept it.
The Follow action can also help you create familiarity with the lead before shooting a connection request which can increase the connection accept rate.
Like a Post
Rule: Be mindful of the reaction type when using this action, since you cannot specify which exact post need to be triggered.
Step 1. Set the reaction type:
You can choose the reaction type and it covers all the available reactions from the original LinkedIn account:
Like
Celebrate
Support
Funny
Love
Insightful
Step 2. Set the reaction type:
Since you cannot specifically choose which post to react at, you have the option to select the time span of when was the post published:
Posts Newer than:
24 Hours
3 Days
1 Week
3 Weeks
1 Month
3 Months
Also, you have the option to Skip delay if a post cannot be liked, which allows you to allow leads to continue down the sequence steps if they don't have a post posted in the period set
With the final configuration, you are ready to apply the Like Post action for your campaign sequence.
