How to import lead from LinkedIn Search Bar?
Updated over a week ago

The LinkedIn Search Bar method is one of the most commonly used ways to import leads. It offers two options:

💡 The maximum number of leads you can import per LinkedIn sender is 1,000 per import. Check the end of this article for a workaround to exceed this limit.

1. Exact via URL (import via search URL)

This method requires you to be logged into your LinkedIn account in a separate browser tab.

Here's a detailed video tutorial that can guide you through the process.

Follow the steps below:

Step 1: Create a LinkedIn Search:

  • Log in to your original LinkedIn account.

  • Use the LinkedIn Search Bar to perform a search. For example, I search for "customer support" and filter results to include only 2nd-degree connections.

Step 2: Copy the Search URL:

  • Once the search results appear, copy the full URL from your browser’s address bar.

  • Ensure the entire URL is copied; an incomplete link will result in a failed import.

Step 3: Import Leads in HeyReach:

  • Navigate to the Leads tab in HeyReach.

  • Click on the Add Leads button.

Step 4: Select Import Method:

  • Choose the LinkedIn Search Bar method and click Continue.

  • Select the Extract from URL option.

Step 5: Provide List Details:

  • Enter a name for your lead list.

  • Select the LinkedIn sender (the LinkedIn account associated with the search URL) for accurate results.

  • Add the Search Bar URL you previously created.

Step 6: Start Importing:

  • Click on the Start Importing button.

  • You will be directed to the importing screen, where you can monitor the progress, including the percentage of leads being imported.

🚨 Use the Stop Importing option only if you want to cancel the process. Stopping the import will prevent all leads from being imported.

While the import is running, you can continue working on other tasks within your HeyReach account. The process will finish in the background.

Once completed, the imported list will be available in the Leads tab. Click on the list to view and manage the leads

2. Search by Keyword

This option allows you to add keywords and filters directly within HeyReach, eliminating the need to log in to your LinkedIn account in a separate tab.

Step 1: Add Leads in HeyReach:

  • Navigate to the Leads tab in HeyReach.

  • Click on the Add Leads button.

Step 2: Select Import Method:

  • Choose the LinkedIn Search Bar method and click Continue.

  • Select the Search by Keyword option.

Step 3: Provide List Details:

  • Enter a name for your lead list.

  • Select the LinkedIn sender.

Step 4: Define Search Parameters:

  • In the Search Query area, enter your keyword(s) (boolean string is allowed).

  • Apply specific filters, such as location, industry, current/past companies, or connection degree, to refine the results.

Step 5: Start Importing:

  • Click on the Start Importing button to begin the process.

  • You will be redirected to the importing screen, where you can monitor the progress, including the number and percentage of leads being imported.

Workaround to Increase the Import Limit

By default, the maximum number of leads that can be imported per LinkedIn sender in one import is 1,000. However, you can increase this limit by including additional LinkedIn senders from your workspace.

  • This applies to both the Extract from URL and Search by Keyword options within the LinkedIn Search Bar method.

  • For example, if you have three LinkedIn senders available, you can import up to 3,000 leads in one session (1,000 per sender).
